The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. David Olusola Idowu, has condemned a viral video in which a group of young people were seen calling on the government to provide them with ammunition to kill individuals they described as infidels, particularly Christians worshipping in churches. Rev. Dr. Idowu described the video as disturbing and expressed support for the position of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in condemning the development. Speaking with New Frontiers Television, the Baptist leader called on the Federal Government to urgently investigate the matter and take appropriate action, stressing that Nigeria is a secular state where every citizen has the constitutional right to practise their religion without fear, intimidation or persecution. He further urged Christian organisations and church leaders not to give in to threats or intimidation but to remain firm in their faith while taking necessary steps to strengthen security within their churches and communities. Rev. Dr. Idowu also called on Christians to remain prayerful and committed to fasting, seeking divine intervention in the face of the country's security challenges. The NBC President concluded with a prayer for God's continued protection over the Church, expressing confidence that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
